This weeks fan focus is John.

John became a Spurs fan because in his words, he had no option. It was understood as both his Grandfathers were fans and both his parents were fans. If you didn’t support Spurs he says, you would have to sit in another room at Christmas.

John’s favorite player is the legendary Jimmy Greaves. John started supporting Spurs in 1964 and went to most home games in the middle sixties. John recalls that Jimmy Greaves scored 36 goals in 45 games in 63-64, and 35 goals in 45 games the following season, just brilliant.

We asked John about his fondest memory of Spurs. John said it was the first time we made the UEFA cup. He traveled to Istanbul and saw the team beat Besiktas. John remembers the atmosphere at the game as being absolutely wonderful and the best he has ever experienced.
