Chicago Spurs CACC Event
In the 2014-2015 Premier League Season Tottenham Hotspur Chicago has made the commitment to participate in civic minded activities and give back to the Chicago community. On Saturday March 28th, a group of Chicago Spurs members made a second trip to City of Chicago: Animal Care and Control (CACC). The Chicago Spurs first volunteered as a group at the CACC on October 4th, 2014. The CACC is an organization that takes in over 20,000 stray and abandoned animals throughout the Chicagoland area each year and is in desperate need of volunteers. They rely heavily on groups and individual volunteers to aid in the care and support of the animals they take in.
Between the two visits, volunteers from Chicago Spurs participated in a variety of tasks to support the animals sheltered at the CACC including: walking dogs in the yard, bathing dogs, distributing dog toys, collecting dog toys, and providing play and stimulation to cats in the cat room. Since many of the animals sheltered there receive very little one on one attention, the efforts made by the Chicago Spurs volunteers provided 3 hours of relief to the CACC employees and volunteers.
Tottenham Hotspur member Cesare Lasorella was so taken with one of the dogs he walked he decided to adopt her. The Chicago Spurs event– quickly becoming a long term partnership, made the ultimate difference in one pup’s life!
Long time Chicago Spurs member Richard Desira organized the event with CACC and Everyone who participated had a terrific time. The Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control (FCACC) volunteer and organizer Lisa Dimberg arrived in her Chicago Spurs t-shirt that she was given when she was made an honorary member during the fall visit.
Tottenham Hotspur Chicago looks forward to future volunteer opportunities with the CACC.
